River Forest Community

River Forest is a community of nearly 500 homes located in Laplace, LA just off of West Airline Highway in St. John the Baptist Parish. River Forest of Laplace is one of the oldest and largest subdivisions in the Laplace area. Bordered by Lake Pontchartrain to the north and the Mississippi River to the south, River Forest continues to be one of Laplace's safest and nicest neighborhoods.

RFHA Call To Action! Door-To-Door Membership Drive.

Whether you attend meetings and pay yearly home owners association fees or not, if you own a home in River Forest, you are an ex post facto member of the River Forest Home Owners Association. We all have a stake in the type of neighborhood we are going to allow River Forest to become. We need your help. This is your community and you should want to help make sure it maintains the qualities that brought you to this area in the first place. The RFHA realizes that we have not been as visible as we had hoped to but it has not been due to a lack of effort. The RFHA was successful in replacing the old sign at the entrance of the subdivision with a new more modern sign along with accent lighting. We would like to thank every neighbor who paid their dues and made donations to help make the new sign possible. Secondly, RFHA members helped repair both the sign at the River Forest Park as well as Bulletin Board Sign (green sign) as you leave the neighborhood. Lastly, the dues collected by RFHA helped to pay for the insurance policy for the RFHA park as well as the monthly mowing of the park's grass. As you can see, there are things that the RFHA is doing in and for the neighborhood but there is so much more that we could do as a community with your participation. No one likes to feel that they have no input on what goes on in their own neighborhood. We have held RFHA meetings but have only gotten minimal turn out. This has resulted in neighborhood decisions being made by a small representation of people who have attended the meetings. Your voice should be heard on concerns within your neighborhood. With this in mind, we are asking for volunteers to help with an RFHA Door-To-Door membership drive coming in the next few weeks. Current members of the RFHA will be going door-to-door in the neighborhood asking for your participation in the RFHA. We will be providing you with membership information as well as providing you with a receipt for your dues payment. At the conclusion of the drive on each day you will receive an email (if you elect to provide an email address) outlining the current amount in the treasury, total amount collected on that day and the total monthly expenditures. During these most trying economic times, we understand that disposable income is at a premium. However, compared to other neighborhood associations, RFHA dues are relatively small. We all have to ask ourselves is $0.15 a day worth maintaining and improving the current quality of our neighborhood?

RFHA Sounds Off!

Please Obey the Stop Signs in the Neighborhood!
There are a number of vehicles that continue to run the stop signs in our neighborhood especially the first stop sign at the end of Windsor. It only takes a minute to stop properly and avoid an accident or ticket. Sheriff Officers have issued several citations at this very location for both speeding and running of the stop signs. For your safety and the safety of your neighbors, please slow down in the neighborhood and obey the stop signs. If this problem persists, we will have no other option but to ask the sheriff's office to take a Zero-Tolerance Policy with regard to this.

White Goods, Sofa's & Garbage Collection
This is just a reminder that sofa's and white goods (washing machines, refrigerators, dryers, etc.) will not be picked up by the normal garbage collection. If you have these items that need to be picked up, please call 985-536-2750 to make arrangements to have your items removed. If you are having problems with SWDI employees not putting your plastic cart back in the same location after empting it and leaving bundled or bagged trash you should call 1-800-693-4866. If your cart is broken or split call the same number and ask for a new one. The contract calls for a take all-includes bundles and bags each pick up day and free cart replacement. Sorry it's not free, you are paying for it.
